TRT signals cooperation with Armenia |
 The Turkish Radio Television (TRT), is moving towards cooperation with Armenia's public television station to promot dialogue between the neighbors.
After President Gül's historical visit to Yerevan, the general manager of TRT, Ibrahim Sahin, announced TRT might start broadcasting in ARmenia.
After making the first move by broadcasting the World Cup qualifier between the Turkish and Armenian football teams, TRT also signed a momorandum of understanding with Armenia 1 TV.
?ahin highlighted the three main pillars of the cooperation – cooperation in management, leading public opinion and education. He maintained that a bridge would be built between two countries with the help of state television.
Noting that the final decision for full-time broadcasting in languages, such as Kurdish, Arabic, Persian and English, which are mostly spoken in neighboring countries is in progress, ?ahin said an Armenian broadcast could be also possible in the second phase. He added that broadcasting in Georgian and Russian was also under consideration. |
